All of the courses highly emphasize hands-on experience and practical training. Most courses include lecture and workshops. Participants will learn basic theory from the lecture and apply the theory in a workshop. Please see the brief description of each course below:
Patent Drafting
Patent drafting is an essential element in patent prosecution. By understanding the nature of patent techniques required in drafting a patent application, participants are expected to produce detailed specification and claims upon completion of a course. There are three levels: Standard, Advanced, and Superior course.

Participants who have successfully completed the Standard course and professionals who have one to two years of experience in patent drafting will be eligible for the Advanced course. The Superior course will give participants a fresh view in discovering how an invention can be created and how to see beyond a physical invention.
Length: 60 hours
Patent Prosecution
Besides good patent specification and claim drafting, IIP offers a guideline from submitting patent application to receiving notice of allowance. The Patent Prosecution course equips you with knowledge and skills required in the proceeding and interaction with USPTO.
Length: 24 hours
Response to Office Action
An "Office Action (OA)" lists the defects of the specification; indicates the invention is obvious or not novel. This course teaches you the formula of objections and rejections from USPTO and how to overcome prior arts with claim amendment. An OA can be a guidance of overcoming prior arts if an individual makes the best of it.
Length: 24 hours
Trademark
The trademark course will not only teach you the proper use of symbols, graphs, or brand names, but also how to do a trademark search to avoid repetition and infringement. In addition, the course will also highlight the skills and strategy you need in prosecution, and clarification of confusing issues.

Copyright
In general, copyright is a protection provided by U.S. Law (Title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors or creator of literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and other intellectual works. We offer a guide to copyright along with the scope of protection.
Length: 3 hours
Professional English
For working professionals who would like to improve their English in business and intellectual property field, IIP created an English training program. From common business vocabulary and format to specific terminology used in intellectual property, IIP will lead you to higher English proficiency with useful knowledge required in your career.
